Hammock Haven is tuned to Nature’s soundtrack — loons calling at dusk, water lapping beneath the dock, wind moving through the trees, and the occasional splash from someone giving in to the lake. From your island dome, you’ll fall asleep to these rhythms and wake as light skims across Annabessacook Lake. Days unfold to a steady beat: cooking simple meals, drifting in hammocks just above the water, paddling the shoreline, and wandering the wooded trails of our 14-acre island. No headphones required.

Words can’t express how beautiful the Island is. I would suggest contact Joanne and Kent if you’re looking for the perfect get away. It’s simply amazing!
Just a perfect experience, I'd recommend it for anyone seeking a peaceful and serene getaway.
Joanne and Kent are interesting people and they have a fantastic place!
Joanne and Kent were fantastic. My wife and I (and our 2 dogs) booked it last minute and they were very accommodating. We ended up having the WHOLE island to ourselves. They even brought us extra water and made sure we were all setup. Plus, their dog Shadow is very friendly. Great experience, made camping easy and stress free! We are looking forward to returning.
Such a wonderful stay with Jo and Kent! They have thought of every detail - from pick up and hefting our stuff around, to making sure we were warm enough in a chilly night- Jo and Kent are the definition of “Superhosts!” Plus great fishing and swimming. And with an easy portage, we kayaked to the next lake, making for a whole day of paddling. So great - thank you again, Jo and Kent!
Joanne and Kent's private island is truly a magical place. When you arrive at the parking lot, you will board the Pontoon boat to take you over to the island. We were running late to meet Joanne at the parking lot and our cell service was in and out so were were not able to tell Joanne we would be late. We felt badly making her wait for us in the parking lot but she was kind and good spirited and helped us through all our gear in a wheel barrow down the tree lined dirt road to the boat launching. She was even patient enough to wait while we ran back for our hats and sunglasses (whoops). It was a quick and beautiful ride to the island and we carefully climbed off the dock into a little bit of a dream land. Right off the dock is a sweet little area with a picnic table and a hammock and a Kayak and Canoe for your use. Further up the path we find our idyllic tent nestled among the along with a table fashioned from a tree trunk, two camping chairs and a fire pit. We swam in the gorgeous lake right down the hill from our campsite and it was magnificent. We opted to swim again at sunset to catch the view from the water since it was very hot during our visit.
Joanne and Kent were amazing hosts, helping to boat us over to the island, carry our luggage and set us up with wood for the fire, drinking water and a cook stove. All the dishes we needed were there which was really helpful. There was also mosquito repellent (you will need), tea lights, towels and extra tp.
A couple of notes to travelers - bring water shoes for swimming. There are a lot of boulders to climb over but it's totally worth it!
Traveling with a battery fan would also be useful to keep the air circulating in the tent. It was abnormally hot for Maine when we were there and we would have been glad for a fan.
There was a big thunder storm coming up early morning on the day of our departure and Joanne and Kent wisely got us out in the boat heading to the mainland early enough in the morning to beat the storm.
I highly recommend this spot and am very thankful to Joanne and Kent for the wonderful stay we had. We loved that they care about the environment and are committed to living as green as possible. They are kind people to share this magical place with guests.
What a wonderful place! My s.o. and I stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time exploring the island, canoeing, swimming, and basking in the beautifully preserved, secluded environment. Joanne and Kent have created a very special place, and their love and appreciation for nature can be felt throughout the entire island. We will definitely be coming back!
If you are looking for a unique experience on your own private island with a giant luxury tent, book as fast as you can with Jo and Kent! I loved not having to pack anything more than clothes and food. Jo and Kent have thought of everything to help you strike a perfect balance between roughing it and comfort. The island and all if the little nooks and crannies will keep you as busy or as relaxed as you want to be. I can't say enough about how amazing our stay was! Can't wait to return!
Would give this a 6/5 star rating if I could! Jo and Kent’s idea of a retreat is the best one yet! They’re exceptional and very accommodating hosts. The tent exceeded our expectation and the entire island is so scenic and peaceful. Kayaking on the lake at sunset made this birthday my best one yet. Would highly recommend the place to everyone.
Lovely spot and a fun tent set up. Swimming requires water shoes. Joanne and Kent are gracious hosts.
