Hammock Haven is tuned to Nature’s soundtrack — loons calling at dusk, water lapping beneath the dock, wind moving through the trees, and the occasional splash from someone giving in to the lake. From your island dome, you’ll fall asleep to these rhythms and wake as light skims across Annabessacook Lake. Days unfold to a steady beat: cooking simple meals, drifting in hammocks just above the water, paddling the shoreline, and wandering the wooded trails of our 14-acre island. No headphones required.

Place is exactly as described. If you love camping without hauling a whole lot of stuff with you, this is where you want to be - it’s like “glamping”.😀 And if you love nature and wildlife, you’ll love this place and wont be disappointed! Plenty of thing to do in the island. Amenities are great. Hosts are awesome. And the luxury tent is a unique experience you will definitely enjoy!😀
This is a truly special place. It is exactly as pictured and described. Joanne and Kent have managed to make the tent a comfortable place to stay while not compromising their dedication to ecological preservation. All you really need to bring are your own clothes and food. All cookware (even basic spices, sugar and creamers for coffee) are provided. The hosts interacted just enough to let us know we were cared for- while still giving us the feel of having an entire island to ourselves.
Private, great place to explore. Canoe and kayak available. Next time we would love to try the new a-frame that they just built.
This is the most beautiful island - truly a piece of paradise! If you like camping, this is a wonderful experience. It's full blown camping, but without the bad nights sleep and the work of setting up a camp. The little tent was very cozy and we didn't mind playing cards inside on the two nights it was raining. The bed itself was incredibly comfortable. The campsite itself has basically everything you need, right down the to propane cooking stove. The only things you need to bring are water shoes, food, drink, and a sharp knife for cooking! We can't wait to come back and visit next summer!!
The glamping tent on 1 Big Sutainable Island is a treasue. If you want a gorgeous campground, and comfort that you cant get from a regular tent, but without the bother and noise of a regular campground, then this is the place for you. In fact, we had the whole island to ourselves. It was peaceful, relaxing, very comfortable, beautiful, and the hosts, Joanne and Kent, are kind, responsive, and helpful. They have a wonderful thing going, and we highly recommend the experience.
The other reviews say it all. Do bring water shoes.
Excellent Maine adventure!!
Just go, enjoy it. It’s worth it.
Joanne and Kent were excellent and reponsible hosts, and everything was as advertised in the description. They have everything you will need except for food and clothes for a stress-free camping experience. The lake and island are beautiful and the water was warm and comforting. It was damp and rainy one evening, which was not ideal, but you can't control the weather, unfortunately. I still got my grilling in and making the fire was fun.
This is a wonderful way to spend time on a beautiful Maine lake. It lived up to all of the great comments from everyone else: Jo and Kent were wonderful hosts, the island is wonderful, and the tent and camping facilities were great. We had a wonderful time swimming, canoeing and kayaking, and generally enjoying the outdoors and the lake. The loons were a highlight of the trip, with an amazing number living on the lake, we saw them up close as they swam near the canoes and heard them calling to each other in the night. This was a really wonderful vacation spot, made even better by the wonderful hosts who make sure you are well looked after all the time.
