Hammock Haven is tuned to Nature’s soundtrack — loons calling at dusk, water lapping beneath the dock, wind moving through the trees, and the occasional splash from someone giving in to the lake. From your island dome, you’ll fall asleep to these rhythms and wake as light skims across Annabessacook Lake. Days unfold to a steady beat: cooking simple meals, drifting in hammocks just above the water, paddling the shoreline, and wandering the wooded trails of our 14-acre island. No headphones required.

The MOST beautiful views of the sunrise and sunset. What a beautiful spot to get away from everything. No and Kent were extremely accommodating, easy to communicate with and very friendly.
This was the most peaceful getaway, perfect for a quick “mini moon” to unwind after getting married. Jo and Kent were extremely kind. We could swim right infront of the tent, and brought our boat. Our golden loved the trail around the island and swimming. The yurt was adorable, and the bed was comfortable. Lots of privacy. So nice having a grill as well as grate over the fire. And so nice not having to bring any cooking supplies. A piece of paradise! Loved reading and napping on the hammock, and playing cribbage on the picnic table. There are card, but I definitely recommend bringing your own favorite games!
What an unforgettable time we had camping at Hemlock Haven in the month of August. The sunsets were spectacular, the water (in August) was perfect for swimming and kayaking, the hammock was ready, and the calls of the loons serenaded us. Joanne and Kent are superb hosts who have thought of everything. You can't do better than this if you're looking for a comfortable camping experience!
Wonderful stay, wonderful hosts! Our first glamping experience and a great one at that. We are used to primitive camping, so to have such luxuries while on a private island felt even more luxurious. You will likely have neighbors on the island, and it is open for public use, but it does feel secluded. We barely saw anyone, honestly. Everything you need is provided and we felt well taken care of from start to finish. One of those AirBnBs that quickly starts to feel like a second home. If you are thinking it's overpriced, just stay anyway. You'll see it's worth it, especially considering the work Joanne and Kent have and continue to put into this project. Generous people who want to maintain the natural beauty of this place and share it with others.
Wow, words can’t express how rejuvenated this place makes one feel. It provided the perfect blend of activity and rest, complete with clean, cozy and comfortable accommodations. Glamping at its finest. I enjoyed daily kayak rides, hours spent reading and daydreaming in the hammock, swimming and discovering all the varieties of birds and mushrooms on walks around the island trails. Time was forgotten. And the shower was divine! Nothing like working up a sweat just to immediately rinse it all away. I can’t speak highly enough about Jo and Kent, they are terrific hosts and people! If you are looking for a fun and relaxing getaway in a restorative atmosphere with a touch of magic, this is the place!!
If you enjoy tent camping, finding spots that inspire awe and relaxation- this spot is for you! We spent 3 days, 3 nights of Heaven in late July. The tent at Hemlock Haven is spacious yet cozy, bed is comfy and chairs are perfect. The site is right on the water and private (You see and hear no one) even though the island is shared by 3 other sites! It is environmentally responsible- and manages to have cleanest loo EVER. Shower is self pump- where we realized we are wimps but earned a steady refreshing cleanse! As for your hosts- they are kind and just all around good people. We forgot coffee and they rapidly shared their own. So... I recommend you treat yourself to a swimming, rope swing, kayak ( or canoe ) adventure. And be sure to say hello to Sunset Rock for us!
This place is an absolute gem! We had the BEST stay with our dogs hanging by the tent, playing in the water, and canoeing around the island. Jo and Kent were a pleasure to get to know and were always available to answer our questions. They even captured a few moments of us on the lake and sent us the pics! The tent was super clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. This was one of our favorite experiences on our cross country trip!
Great location and really neat island. The tent was awesome. Felt like we had the entire island to our self. Hosts were great too. They helped us with all our needs and told us a lot about the island and surrounding areas.
What an awesome experience for someone who likes her conveniences! My gift for my hubby and I enjoyed it just as much!! Love seeing how an off grid environment can make the difference in our future. Our host were the best!
We had the best time at Jo & Kent’s island! This was our first ‘glamping’ experience and it was absolutely perfect. The entire island is very well maintained and the tent and the outdoor space has everything you’d need during your stay. Jo and Kent are the sweetest, kindest hosts and will go out of their way to make sure you have a comfortable stay. We loved grilling, watching the sunset from the sunset point, canoeing in the lake and sitting by the campfire. Can’t wait to visit again!
